Just when you thought there couldn’t be more to share, look what’s happening at New Leaf Nursery!
Another amazing growing season comes to a close in North Idaho, and, with anticipation, we planted our bulbs, and we are working to get the last shrubs, and perennials in the ground in all our gardens, knowing that Spring will come again, and our gardens will erupt with color once again! There is still time to grab your favorites as our Fall Sale comes to an end on October 31.
While you’re in the nursery, take a look at the mums, kale, pansies and peppers to add a spot of color to your front steps—it’s all on sale and going quick! All the fall goodies are on sale, in the nursery and in the barn. Look at these beautiful wreaths, just waiting to be hung on your door, gate, or over the fireplace! This is a sampling of what we have. Come find the one that has your name on it! And they’re on sale too!
PAYING IT FORWARD WITH PUMPKINS AND BRINGING SMILES
This year we had some great pumpkins and gourds. Hopefully you got in to see them and get some for yourselves. Ben, Elaine and Eric, New Leaf’s leadership team, are amazingly kind and generous spirits, and they have donated the remaining pumpkins of the season to The Children’s Village of CDA! Can’t wait to see the kids’ handiwork as they carve the pumpkins into works of art!
FOUR SEASONs GARDENING CLASS UP NEXT!
It's not too late to sign up for Elaine’s Four Season Gardening class on Wednesday, November 3rd at 6:00pm. Dress warm, as these chilly nights are upon us! We will meet in the garden center and Elaine will show us all how to achieve an interesting garden scape during the various amazing seasons that we enjoy in North Idaho. From the tender blooms of hyacinth in the spring, to the robust color and fragrance of summer peonies, to the ever changing colorful foliage of the fall, to eye popping colors of berries and branches in the winter, you will learn the tricks of the garden master!
Jen C is at it again!
If you haven’t seen it yet, checkout Jen C’s latest ‘how to’ video on our Facebook page! For those of us new to gardening in North Idaho, Jen C explains in detail just exactly how to put our gardens to bed for the winter. Jen is great at breaking it all down to help us all understand the importance of one last deep soak watering, as well as how to ensure our perennials will come back bigger and more beautiful next year.
Got a lotta fall leaves?
Look at the creative ideas you can do with fall leaves! Keep the colors of the season going…really a fun idea for a very inexpensive craft project you can do with your kids on a rainy afternoon! All you need are a collection of your favorite colors of leaves, and some twine or tape to secure them in place as you gather them!
John Forti, ‘The Heirloom Gardener,’ shared Nicole Duke’s technique of making this whimsical blooms from leaves! “The Heirloom Gardener” can be found on Facebook.
