The NIBCA Home and Garden show is an exciting event where local vendors and businesses showcase the latest in home design, landscaping, and gardening. Visitors can connect with industry professionals, explore the latest trends, and discover new ideas for their homes and gardens through engaging displays, interactive exhibits, informative seminars, and expert advice.

We’re thrilled to announce that New Leaf Nursery will be participating at the Home and Garden Show on a much larger scale this year! Taking place March 13–15, 2026 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

For the first time, we’ll be hosting the New Leaf Stage, a hub of activity featuring live classes, hands-on demonstrations, and artistic expressions designed to inspire your gardening and creativity. Whether you’re looking for tips on planting, want to see innovative garden designs in action, or simply enjoy learning new ways to bring beauty into your home and garden, there will be something for everyone!

New this year (and we’re excited about it): the Education Stage at the 2026 NIBCA Home & Garden Show! Located in Building 20, this stage is a dedicated learning space and a great resource for show attendees.

Think of it as your “ask the experts” zone—short, helpful presentations led by local professionals who know what works in North Idaho homes and gardens. From gardening and water-wise living to remodeling, design, and hiring the right pros, you’ll walk away with practical ideas you can use right away.

Q&A will follow every presentation, so bring your questions and stay to connect with the experts after each session.

FRIDAY:

Smart Outdoor Living: Design, Conservation & Land Care

Practical ideas for creating beautiful outdoor spaces while being water-wise and caring for the land.

  • 1:00 p.m. Rock and Petal — Landscape Design, Water Features & Synthetic Turf
    Learn simple ways to elevate curb appeal and outdoor living with thoughtful landscape design. This session will cover design considerations for water features and the role synthetic turf can play in low-maintenance outdoor spaces.

  • 1:30 p.m. North Kootenai Water & Sewer District — Water Conservation in North Idaho
    Looking for local advice on going water-wise? Meet with Suzanne Scheidt of North Kootenai Water & Sewer District to learn how to better manage your water use at home. She’ll cover easy-to-implement watering tips, all while preserving our precious water asset, to help you maintain a beautiful yard and water-efficient home.

  • 2:00 p.m. Shelly Matthews — Paint a Fence
    A creative, interactive session that brings a fun “home + outdoor” element to the education stage—perfect for families and anyone who likes a hands-on experience during the show.

  • 2:30 p.m. Mountain View Forestry — Land Management 101
    Practical principles of land stewardship—whether you own acreage, live near timberland, or simply want to understand how responsible land management supports healthy forests and safer, more resilient property.


SATURDAY:

Every Garden Counts! Nurturing the Soil, the Spirit and the Earth

A Modern-Day Collaborative Workshop Presentation for Home Gardeners

  • 11:00 a.m. Kootenai County Master Gardeners - University of Idaho — Soil, Zones & Diagnostics for North Idaho Gardens
    Learn what makes North Idaho gardens thrive—zones, soil types, and common troubleshooting tips. This session is designed to help gardeners confidently understand what they’re working with and how to improve results.

  • 11:30 a.m. Coeur d’Alene Garden Club — Community, Gardening & the Annual Garden Tour
    With over 150 members, the Coeur d’Alene Garden Club is the largest in the region. Learn about their mission of gardening education and community improvement, and hear about their annual Garden Tour fundraiser that features local home gardens.

  • 12:00 noon Wylde Bloems (Holly Vesterby) — Simple Floral Design + Water-Wise Garden Curation
    Holly will share simple tricks to create beautiful bouquets for your home. She’ll also discuss curating a garden with intention and being water-wise during drought periods, drawing from her experience as a home flower grower and designer.

  • 12:30 p.m. New Leaf Nursery (Jen Colburn) — Water-Wise Gardening During Drought Conditions
    A practical, local talk focused on plants that thrive here while requiring less water. Jen will cover soil prep, the right way to water, best times of day to water, and other strategies to help your garden flourish even in dry conditions.

  • 1:00 p.m. Northern Lakes Fire District — Water Conservation in North Idaho
    Is your home wildfire-ready? Join Deputy Fire Marshal Chris Larson for a talk on 'Fire Wise' living and simple ways to create a defensible perimeter around your property.

    A helpful overview of using home equity and financing options wisely—especially when planning renovations, upgrades, or larger home projects.

  • 11:30 a.m. Interior Design — Speaker To Be Announced
    Design-focused tips to help homeowners plan spaces that function well and feel great—whether you’re refreshing a room or preparing for a full remodel.

  • 12:00 p.m. Silver Ridge — Remodel Experts
    What homeowners should know before starting a remodel: planning, budgeting, timelines, and how to reduce surprises once work begins.

  • 12:30 p.m. Lakeview Decks — Decking
    Deck planning essentials—materials, design choices, maintenance, and what factors most affect cost and longevity.

  • 1:00 p.m. Selecting a Reputable Company — NIBCA Executive Officer Amie Pace
    A practical guide to hiring with confidence: how to vet contractors, what questions to ask, red flags to watch for, and how to set expectations for a smoother project experience.
